Welcome!
Fiddle Fancier is a group of musicians who offer violin and fiddle lessons using the Suzuki method. For information about signing up, visit the Lessons page.Suzuki Violin Instruction
Suzuki violin instruction is a method developed by Dr. Shinchi Suzuki to teach very young children how to make wonderful music on violins. It works well for any age group because it teaches music as a language, using hearing, listening and simple repetition to bring about small successes. The combination of small successes leads up to big payoffs in technique development and musicianship. The parent organization, the Suzuki Association of the Americas, offers support to teachers, parents and students with publications, workshops and teaching materials. Please consider joining to support this wonderful effort. For more information visit the Suzuki Association of the Americas' website. The Instructor?
Nanette Fynan * Suzuki Violin and Celtic Fiddle
I just love what I do. I get to play great tunes all day with children and adults who love Celtic music and dance as much as I do. It doesn't get much better than that.
I started playing in a public school music program at age 10 and at 12 years, I started private lessons with Norma Neiland who's daughter, Becky, was studying in a Suzuki program at SIUE. I got great Suzuki instruction, second hand, through Book V. I suffered angst through highschool and college, waffling between science and music, until I began lessons with Melvin Ritter, retired concert master, St. Louis Symphony. It was an Epiphany. I finally began to sound the way I always imagined I could sound.
I performed with SIUE's Slavic performance group. Then I injured my arm. I quit playing for 20 years. I found some natural remedies and attended Deborah White's Celtic music workshop. I could do this! My life was suddenly reborn and I haven't stopped since.
I've been attending Suzuki teacher's workshops, fiddle workshops, regular fiddle sessions and private lessons, so that I can bring my best to you, my students, so that you can sound the way you imagine you can sound.
